Swimming Lessons

This summer, I decided it would be fun to put Abbi in swimming lessons at Mesquite Junior High with her cousins, Colton and Addison. We went for 8 sessions, 25 minutes each, and had a blast. Abbi learn to blow bubbles in the water, float on her back, use big arms and kicks, jump into the pool, climb in and out, monkey crawl (crawl along the side of the pool) and how to bounce to find the ground. It was interesting to see how they incorporated various songs to have the kids do things. For instance, to float on their backs, we would hold them and sing twinkle twinkle little star.

It was pretty fun to go to because you never knew what to expect from your own child and the other children in the class. Some days were good, some days were not so good. There was one day that Abbi was being a turd, so I dunked her in the water and then she participated. (I ended up dunking her two more times to try and wash the demons out). Her some pictures Josh took the last day, detailing the whole class.

The hardest part is at the beginning, where they get to choose a toy.

Abbi had to inspect all before choosing the "right" one.

Blowing bubbles!

Bouncing!
More bouncing!
Me looking hot! HA HA!
Big arms!

Big arms and kicks!

More swimming! I conned her into doing stuff by telling her we need to "save" the star from drowning!

Saving the star!
End of a jump!
Good splash in mom's eye!
Reaching for the edge!

Jumping!
Climbing out!

She became really good at jumping to me, and not having to hold my hands first!

Monkey crawl!
Swimming on her back!
Floating!

Being cute!

Not so cute face :O)

The last day they got to go on the shell slide!

Not so graceful landing!

Giving it a second try!

Returning the toy that took five minutes to pick out!
